Tyler Cook

Tyler is outside sales for RDS Lighting and has been in the industry for over 5 years. He works with many aspects of the industry with a focus on specifications and is a member of many different organizations including ECAM! Tyler serves as Chair of the ECAM Next Gen Advisory Council and as a member of the ECAM Social Committee.

Ben Garvey

Ben Garvey is an experienced sales professional with Hubbell Canada. His primary responsibility is to promote the use of Burndy products in the Canadian electrical utility market. Ben has been selling to the electrical industry for 6 years and has 17 years of total sales experience. Ben has been fortunate to work with some of Canada's best companies and he takes pride in being part of a strong company culture built on solid moral values, trust and hard work.

Ben attended Red River College in Winnipeg where he studied Aviation Management and completed the Commerce Industry, Sales and Marketing program earning a CPSA certificate.

During the week you can find Ben at industry events, hosting product training or working with contractors to identify new solutions. Ben's curious mind is always hungry for new information and opportunities to learn, he is never afraid to lend a helping hand.

In Ben's free time, you'll find him golfing at Breezy Bend Country Club or spending time with his wife Kelsey, children Isla (7) and Cade (5) as well as his dogs, Winnie and Baxter.

Brayden Gilmour

Brayden Gilmour is an Electrical Engineer in Training at SMS Engineering, where he has contributed for nearly three years. During his time at SMS, Brayden has worked on a range of significant projects, including The Leaf at Assiniboine Park, the new Portage la Prairie District Hospital, the emergency department redevelopment at St. Boniface Hospital, and the Provincial Fire Life Safety (PFLS) projects across Manitoba.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Brayden is passionate about sports, particularly golf, football, and hockey, and enjoys spending time with friends and family. He is currently focused on completing the final competencies required to attain his Professional Engineer designation, which he plans to achieve by mid-2025.

Brendon Thiessen

Brendon Thiessen's journey at ABCO Supply & Service Ltd began in 2007 as a delivery truck driver. He transitioned into an electrical apprenticeship in 2008, earning his Red Seal Electrician (RSE) certification in 2012. Building upon his Red Seal certification, he went on to achieve the title of Ontario Master Electrician. Since 2014, Brendon has worked as a Project Manager, utilizing his many years of experience to effectively analyze project requirements, provide accurate cost estimations, and efficiently coordinate resources. Brendon is actively involved with the ECAM board, Social Committee, and Next Gen Advisory Council. Outside of work, Brendon enjoys recreational cycling and indulges his creative side as an amateur tattoo artist.

Colin Elliott

Currently working at Oakpark Powerline Services as Estimator & Construction Manager. 15 years of experience in the electrical industry working on all types and sizes of projects from commercial to heavy industrial; including specialty process, manufacturing, automation, and high voltage. Efficiency, process improvement, continual learning and development are aspects of my role that I am passionate about. Credentials include Red Seal Endorsement (RSE) as a Construction Electrician, Gold Seal Certification (GSC) as an Estimator, Construction Estimator Certified (CEC), and Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) designations.

Evan Thor

Evan has been working in the electrical industry as an inside sales associate and now as an outside sales associate for TMC Sales, since he was 18 years old. He is bilingual in French and English and graduated from Red River business administration with an associate degree in marketing with a focus on business management and digital marketing, in the summer of 2023. Evan is an ambitious learner, which is why he's a proud member of the ECAM Next Gen Board and the EFC Young Professionals Network, always looking to further his knowledge and connections in the electrical industry.

Graham Coolidge

Graham has been employed with McCaine for 14 years, and through this time has demonstrated his commitment to the electrical construction industry through his exemplary work. He has been employed with our firm starting as an apprentice, and continuing his career through to becoming a journeyman, foreman, and more recently McCaine's field superintendent. Graham's current role is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the movement, training, orientation, work, and safety of the entire division's field personnel.

Laura Brereton

Laura is an Intermediate Electrical Designer at SMS Engineering. She takes pride that her work has a positive impact on her community. Her involvement with the Redevelopment of the St. Boniface Hospital Emergency department and the New Portage general Hospital projects have been both challenging and rewarding. She enjoys the diverse number of projects she is involved with in her role as a designer. Joining the Next Gen committee was a great chance to connect to the contractor side of the industry, discuss common issues, and talk about ways we can improve the design and construction process. When she's not at work she enjoys spending time with her family, drinking coffee, being outside, and listening to podcasts.

Matt Borody

Matt Borody is a Professional Engineer and Partner at MCW Consultants Ltd., where he has enjoyed a distinguished career spanning 12 years. His journey with MCW has been marked by significant achievements and collaborations with a dedicated and supportive team. Matt's notable project highlights include the Manitoba Hydro Converter Buildings at Riel and Keewatinohk, part of the Bipole III project, which earned an Award of Excellence from ACEC. He has also worked on iconic projects such as the James Ave. Pumphouse Complex, lighting upgrades at the Esplanade Riel, and the ongoing renovations at The Bay (Wehwehneh Bahgahkinahgohn) with the Southern Chiefs Organization.

Matt is inspired by the pursuit of creative and innovative solutions focused on sustainability and carbon reduction, contributing to the broader discussion on climate change. On a personal level, his family-particularly his children and wife-serves as a source of inspiration, guiding his decisions and project designs to ensure the safety and happiness of his loved ones.

A registered Professional Engineer in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories, Matt has received several industry accolades, including the ACEC Award of Excellence in Energy Resource Development and the Award of Merit for lighting at the Esplanade Riel.

Miranda Adams

Miranda Adams is the Sales and Marketing Assistant at Wescan Construction Services. Throughout her career at Wescan, she has been a major part of the Marketing Department while also having a role in the Finance, Safety and Service departments.

Miranda began her career at the front desk as Executive Assistant, assisting senior management, the finance department and safety team, as well as other administrators with crucial tasks and documentation management. This broke her ground in administration and propelled her forward into the Safety Administrator role. Through her tenure with the safety team Miranda took charge of many significant projects such as, writing and updating practices/procedures, implementing new training from the safety team to the field staff, on/off boarding employees and delegating tasks to other members of the safety team. This role in the safety department gave her the opportunity to move forward into Wescan's service department, where she is becoming an indispensable resource.

Among all of this Miranda has excelled in the Marketing Department, furthering her high school found passion for Graphic Design and pursuing her dream career path. She has taken on the brunt of Wescan rebranding including the entire Health and Safety Manual. Miranda also independently built and manages the Wescan Uniform Store, designed the logo and marketing documentation for Wescan Residential Services, as well as the implementation of a new email signature program.

Miranda aspires to continue advancing and gaining experience in her field as she furthers her career at Wescan and beyond.

Morgan Gudmunson

Morgan Gudmundson is the Operations Supervisor at Gescan, where she has been a dedicated team member for 12 years. Her career at Gescan began as a Temporary Administrator, and she has since advanced through several key roles, including Project Coordinator and Quotation Specialist, before stepping into her current position as Operations Supervisor.

Morgan recently achieved certifications in Six Sigma - Yellow Belt and Crestom - The BPM Leadership Development program, underscoring her commitment to professional growth and operational excellence.

Paul Shack

Paul Shack is known as one of the founding members of the Winnipeg Building Information Modeling (BIM) Community. He has played a pivotal role in advancing the adoption and effective implementation of BIM practices within the construction industry. With over 19 years of experience, Paul has risen through the ranks to become Vice President of Operations at Nor-Tec Group Ltd. From beginning as a level 1 apprentice, he has worked his way up the ladder as a Journeyman, Site Foreman, Superintendent, Project Manager and Operations Manager within Nor-Tec Group Ltd. Alongside his professional accomplishments, Paul actively participates as a Social Committee member and serves as a Board Representative on the Next Gen Advisory Council.

Roger Stevens

Roger Stevens is an accomplished Foreman at Nortec Group Ltd., currently overseeing operations at Boundary Trails Hospital. With a diverse career spanning several notable projects, Roger has demonstrated expertise in managing complex construction and renovation initiatives. His career highlights include significant contributions to the Wawanesa Insurance building, the Wawanesa Skywalk, the National Research Council, and the True North Square residences and commercial spaces.

Beyond his professional achievements, Roger draws inspiration from his children and maintains a deep passion for automobiles and the great outdoors. His commitment to excellence and personal interests reflects his dynamic approach to both work and life.

Scott Andrade

Scott joined Wescan in 2007 fresh out of high school and has moved his way up through electrical apprenticeship, journeyman, leadhand and superintendent. In 2019 he joined our electrical design team where he gained experience in design build/assist, specification review and compliance, material procurement, shop drawing review, scheduling, construction layouts, BIM design, clash coordination, prefabrication, logistics and commissioning. His responsibilities include electrical conduit and wiring layouts, material takeoffs, troubleshooting systems, electrical design & logistics and planning.

Zaw Aungkyaw

Zaw Aungkyaw is an Electrical Engineer currently working with Efficiency Manitoba. With a career spanning the oil and gas industry, where he specialised in designing control and generating equipment, to a career as a consultant in the building and construction sector, providing electrical designs for projects across Canada, Zaw has a diverse background as an Electrical Engineer. He is proficient in project management, construction administration, and a range of electrical studies including load flow analysis, short circuit studies, protective device coordination, arc flash studies, and grounding grid analysis. Currently, Zaw provides technical guidance in developing and delivering incentive programs to help Manitobans reduce consumption of electrical energy, demonstrating his commitment to sustainability.
