Upgrades to Permits Online

Alyssa JonassonAnnouncements, News

Starting Monday, June 24, 2024, all residential building and trade permit applications will be available through Permits Online. As licensed contractors, you and your authorized signees have long been able to apply online for electrical permits, but you will notice some changes to residential applications the next time you log in. The changes include:

  • A new “exterior wiring/landscape lighting” application option. Select this option for applications of exterior work only, with no interior work component other than connecting to a panelboard.
  • A new “indoor plant growth facility” application option. Select this option for applications of electrical work associated with legal residential indoor grow operations.
  • The ability to apply as a homeowner for plumbing and electrical permits however, be aware that the permit applicant must be the registered owner-resident.
  • Easier applications that are tailored to your licence type and application selection.
  • A “save for later” feature to return to an incomplete/unsubmitted application within 30 days. This feature (available since April) allows you to estimate your permit fee and retain your application so when you are the successful bidder, you don’t have to re-enter the application details.

There will be no change to commercial applications with this round of updates.

Permits Online will be temporarily unavailable this weekend, June 22 and 23, to facilitate the upgrades.
