City of Winnipeg – Permits Online Expansion

Alyssa JonassonAnnouncements

On June 24, 2024, the following Permits Online features will be introduced:

  • Homeowners will now be able to apply for residential plumbing and electrical permits if the homeowner lives in a single detached dwelling that is their primary residence and does the work themselves (some restrictions apply for electrical permits).
  • Both homeowners and contractors will now be able to apply for permits to develop a basement.

These enhancements build on Permits Online April 15 upgrades, which included homeowners and contractors being able to apply for most residential building permits online, as well as being able to save and return to partially completed permit applications within a 30-day period. Together, both phases of improvements now allow all residential building and trade permits to be applied for online.

Permits Online will be unavailable over the weekend of June 22 and 23.  An alert will be placed on the website to notify customers that Permits Online will be temporarily unavailable.
